On March 25th, JW Fine Art Co., Ltd. (hereafter JW) held a sponsorship agreement ceremony with ‘Skill Fencing Club’. It is a very rare case for a gallery to sponsor a sports club, and JW’s CEO Jeong Sung-gyun revealed a special relationship with the Fencing Club.
CEO Jung is very open to any kind of sports and loves to learn sports that catch his attention and he was fencing a few years ago. He initially thought that fencing was simply a cool activity. So, he started it as a hobby, but when he actually did it, it required a lot of energy technically and physically more than any other exercise. he said that the higher the intensity, the more fun it is.
Since the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, fencing's popularity peaked. The reason why people like it is because it is not only the outstanding skills of the players but also the fans who like their refined and gentle manners have increased. As if reflecting this, it has recently appeared as material for TV dramas.
Skill Fencing Club sponsored by CEO Jeong is located not far from the gallery. He visited this place whenever he had spare time, and thanks to that, he became close with coach Han Dong-jin and some players training there. One day, he heard the news that the club's player Kim Seung-hyun had been selected for the youth national team. As a matter of fact, CEO Jeong once had a dream to establish a fencing team and he wanted to help them as the first step.
With this sponsorship, CEO Jeong expects that JW Fine Art will be widely known in the fencing industry, and after the full-fledged team establishment, he plans to carry out more activities to popularize fencing and raise the status of fencing in Korea.
